Daniel and william win Junior All Ireland
Daniel and William Love had a great win in the mens junior doubles. The Clogh players had to call on all reserves to finally win a very tough match. After winning the first game 21-15, the were very slow to start and roscommon got into a early lead. The lads worked hard and fought hard but could not gain back the lead. The were beaten 21-15. In the third game the Clogh players gained a slight lead . the scores were hard to get . With the lads serving 18 - 10 Daniel fell to the ground with an ankle injury. When play resumed Daniel was serving, the return of serve was killed , the same happened to the second serve leaving the lads needing 1 ace. This they achieved to great roar from the large Clogh crowd that traveled to the Match .
Marie T and Claire won the Ladies Junior doubles Championship beating two girls from Roscommon. The Roscommon girls gor into an early lead in the first game, However the clogh girls powered back into the game winning 21-15. The second game was won 21-3. This is a great win for the clogh girls.

Minor Hardball Doubles Champions Keith Burke and Eoghan Hennessy
Eoghan Hennessy bridges a 35 year Minor Hardball Gap gap.
Eoghanand his partner Keith Burke O’Loughlins played brilliant Handball to
beat a fancied Mayo pair in Stephen Cooney and Ian.McLoughlin. The Kilkenny
stars got off to a flying start and they never let the opposition settle. Great
retrieving by Keith and clinical killing by Eoghanensured victory in what was a tough game. The
game was played in Mullingar the support was sparce but vocal. The supporters
who travelledsaw a great game and the
athmosphere was good. The hands were sore after the battle but no doubt the
victory eased the pain. They won this title21-14. 21-10 to take the paddy Purcell cup. The last clogh pair to win
this title wa Peadar Hugesand Eddie
Mahon in 1974. and Keith Burks father Billy also won this title in 1980 and
Daniel and William win thrilling semi-final.
Daniel and William Love won a thrilling match in front of a to Large local gallery to reach the Junior Doubles final. In the first game the Cork pair edged ahead to win 21-17, In the second game the cork pair held a commanding lead 19-12,however the local lads battled hard and but the never say did attitude of the lads payed dividends. At 19-12 down in the 2nd William played the left and this change turned the game and gave Daniel a bit of time to get his game together. They leveled the game with a massive kill from Daniel's left hand to take the game to the third. A huge roar went through the ally from the big group of supporters. It took them along time to get in to their stride but when they did, the Cork lads had no answer to their super play. This was a game that was lost but spirit and hearth turned the game around. The Clogh men won 17-21. 21-19 21-14. They now meet Roscommon in the All Ireland Final and that will also be a very tough game

Claire Love and Marie T ONeill had a convincing win over their Clare oposition winning 21-0,21-11 The Clogh girls played Ann Marie and Ashling FitzGerakld from Clare. the local girls got to a flying start with Marie serving brilliant balls, secured the first game 21-0 . The second was a bit closer the were levell at 14 all. When Claire stepped up to the mark and with some great serving finished in style 21-0 21-14 this was a great victory.
Eoghan Henessy in All Ireland Minor Hardball Doubles Final
Mayo and Kilkenny will cross swords in the 2009 GAA Handball All-Ireland Minor Hardball Doubles championship final following the win of Keith Bourke and Eoin Hennessy on Thursday evening in Clogh. The duo overcame Wexford's Dean Corrigan and Jason Murphy on a 21-11, 21-10 scoreline to book their date in Sunday's decider at Mullingar.
They will meet Mayo's Stephen Cooney and Ian McLoughlin in thisyears final, the Connacht pairing havingdefeated Wicklow's Keith Kavanagh and Gary Donohoe in their semi-final meeting on Tuesday night last. Sunday's final promises to be another exciting tie with Cooneyand McLoughlin bidding to go one better in the event than 12 months ago. Theduo lost out to highly regarded Limerick pairing, Seamus O'Carroll and CJ Fitzpatrick, in last year's final on a 21-8,21-14 scoreline. Indeed the Mayo combination have already picked up the GAA Handball All-Ireland Minor 40x20 Doubles championship title in 2009, havingalso defeated Kilkenny in that final. Keith Bourke was a beaten finalist in the 40x20 and this time teams up with Eoin Hennessy in a strong partnership thatshould ensure a cracking final.

Claire love and Marie Therese O'Neill added the Leinster 60 x30 title to their trophy collection. The two ladies have been very successful in Leinster but have failed to get it right on the all Ireland stage. They defeated Tanya O'Toole/Martina Walsh Wexford.21-14. 21-12 in the final. Claire played M.Walshe in the singles final but came out second best in what was a very good game loosing 21-17 21-9.
Junior singles William Love played David Hope Offaly in this Lleinster Final. It turned out to be a marathon. Hope won the first game 21-17 but the resiliant William Love clawed himself back in to the game with the closest of wins 21-20. The third game went all the way to the wire but the Clogh man held his nerve to take the title 21-20 Minor Singles Final Eoghan Hennessy Played Meath's Garry McConnel in a tough encounter in Mullingar. Eoghan got off to a brilliant stasrt winning the first game 21-10. But the more experienced Meat player upped the tempo and with some excelent play won the next two games 21-6 21-9. this was a gret performance by Eoghan.
Junior Double’s Leinster final. Daniel and William Love were out for revenge for last years defeat To Offaly, C'O'Brien /D.Hope. The two lads were in good form playing well they were well in controllof the game from the off. The Offaly duo varied the game so often they maby even confused themselves rather than the Clogh Lads. The Clogh men stuck to the game plan and ran out deserving winners 21-16 21-14. in winning this title the lads bridged a 61year gap. The last Clogh win in junior doubles was Martin OKeekkee and Sean O’Connell in 1948 Played in Talbots.”
Peadar Hughes and Eddie Mahon were the last Clogh men to win a minor title in 1974” and Eoghamn Hennessy was hoping to give the club its first minor win in 35 years. Eoghan teamd up with Keith Burke O’Loughlins The opposition was another Kilkenny pairing Patrick Funchion/ Keith Clifford. The first ngame went in favour of the Clogh O’Loughlins duo 21-17. While the second went to the Kells/ St.Canices duo 21-10. the Third game was totally controlled by Eoghan and Keith. They were in devastating form in the third with brilliant play they stormed away from the opposition to win 21-3 this as a great win.

A number of clogh Players are playing the National onewall championship on the weekend. Padrig and Ciaran Cooney are playing in the U12, Ronan Egaan and Brian Mahon in the U14, Ciara mahon in the u16, Eoghan Henessy in the u18 and Billy Love and Ned Mahon play in the Golden Masters
Big Feile Weelend
Clogh had 3 teams in the feile this year. The girls team were in Division 1 and played their matches at Clogh. There were some very strong teams in the competition and they did not qualify for the final. There were 2 boys teams one in division 1 60*30 and one in division 5 of the 40*20. The division 1 boys were playing in Crinkle and were beaten by Mullinavat and Castlebridge. the beat Ballina but did not qualify for the final.
The second boys team played in Culahill and narrowly missed out by a few aces to St Canices to qualify for the final.

Danial Love wins Fr Purcell Trophy
The Fr. Purcell Trophy was played off this week with Danial Love beating Thomas Campion in the final. The competition was based on 15minute timed games. The standard was very high and many games were closely contested.
Beaten in All Ireland Semifinal
The Kilkenny boys 12/13 were beaten by Clare team by 1 point in the all Ireland Semifinal. Brian Mahon and Padraig Cooney were first into the alley. They were playing the Two strong u13s from Clare. They lost the first Game 15-7, however they gave a tremendous performance and won the second game 15 - 6. In the second game the Kilkenny pair of John Walsh and Sean Carey were beaten by a very strong pair 30 - 6, In the final game Emmet Landy and Niall Walsh gave a great display winning the first game 15-1, however the Clare boys upped their performance and gained sufficient aces to win overall by 1 ace (15-7) 59-58. The team can be proud of their performance.
The Leinster handball council organised a scor competition to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the GAA. The night started with a table quizz, This was won by the kilkenny Team of Grard Egan, Billy Love, Ned Mahon, Eddie English. The instrumental section was won by a Group from Widgap. The adjudicators awarded the Kilkenny and Wicklow groups as joint winners of the vocal competition. The singing and celebrations continiued late into the night.

William Love won his quarterfinal match beating Cathall Hannon (Clare) 21-15,21-9. However he was beaten in his semifinal by Patrick ODonnell (Wicklow) 21-17,21-9.

Big weekend for Handball
This is a big weekend for Irish Handball. Clogh have a number of players still in contention. In the mens B William Love represents the club in the quarterfinals. in the boy 17U and under Eoghan henessy is battling for his place on the Irish team at the world championships. Mary Phelan and Ciara Mahon are also playing in the Girls 15U . The winner of this also goes on to represent Ireland at the world Championship in USA. Best of Luck to all our players Fixtures Adult
Eoghan Henessy has progressed to the next stages of the Irish Nationals easily winning both matches. William Love also easily progresed to the next round wining his match. However our other juveniles Brian Mahon, Ronan Egan and Padraig Maher were beaten in todays matches. Ciara Mahons match was postboned. Daniel Love and Mary Phelan are also still in the Nationals. The Nationals will be played at Northern venues in two week time and all our players stand a good chance of winning their grades
Ciara Beaten in Final
Ciara Mahon was beaten in the All Ireland ladies junior singles final. It was a terrific game with the Donegal girl Avril McNamee winning the first game 21-13, In the second game Ciara staged a terrific fightback, Avril was leading 19 - 15, however a determined battle by Ciara won the game 21-19. The third game was another great game. The two hour marathon ended with Avril winning 21-13

The Kilkenny boys u12/13 team of six won the Leinster final defeating their close rivals from Carlow. Brian Mahon and Padraig Cooney were first into the Alley and established a 22 ace lead. Emet Landy and Niall Walsh had a difficult game against a very good Carlow pair leaving Kilkenny with a 13 ace lead going into the last match. Claire and Ciara win the Junior Doubles
Claire Love and Ciara Mahon won the Leinster junior doubles final in Tinroylan against a very strong Wexford pair. Claire and Ciara combined well and deserved their 21-13, 21-11 victory.
Padraig Cooney and Sean Carey won their leinster semifinal 15-3, 15-11. Brian mahon and Liam Fenelly beat the Meath pair 15-9, 15-3. Aisling Maher did not progress to next round

The club celebrated its successes for the year 2008. It was a very good year for the club. There was a large attendance at the presentation Night in the Cloneen Rooms. The Flory McCarty trophy was Presented to Brian Mahon and his Team, the runners up prizes were presented to Ronan Egan and his Team. Presentations were made to the Girls Division 1 winners. Presentations were als made to Ciara Mahon and Mary Phelan on winning u14 doubles in both courts.A presentation was made to Eoghan Henessy for u16 singles and Junior team of 4, the other members of the team of 4 were also given presentations, Sean Maher, William Love, Brendan Hosey and Andrew Lawlor. Pat Maher and Duxie Walsh were given a presentation for winning Doubles masters. the final presentation of the night was to Garry delaney a Club member who won a minor hurling all ireland with Kilkenny hurling
All our juveniles playing in Crinkle on Saturday last were successful in progressing to the next round. Kilkenny won all juvenile matches. They will now be playing their next round next weekend in Ballymore Eustace or Leixlip
Colm Love lost his doubles Leinster match. Ciara Mahon beat Niamh Egan and now reached the Leinster final .

Pat Maher is also in action in the County masters v Johny Brennan on Thursday night at 7.30 in Clogh Graham Lawlor and Garry Delaney play the County jB doubles in Kells on Sat 21 at 7pm
The clubs annual presentation night will be held on Friday 20th Feb. in the Cloneen clubhouse ot 7.30 pm. All are welcome.

The presentation night scheduled for thursday 29th has to be postboned to a later date because of Leinster fixtures

Tadgh Purcell and Brian Mahon won the u13 doubles beating Kilfane in the final
Eoin Henessy and Padraig Maher progress to next round of the minor championship winning 21-6,21-7. Brendan hosey and Tom joe Comerford had an easy win in leinster 21-6,21-1

Padraig Cooney won the u12 singles today at Goresbridge. Other noteable performance on the opening day of the county championship were u13 Brian Mahon beaten by Emmet Landy in the final, u14 Eoin Doyle beaten by Sean Tierney in the final and at u15 Ronan Egan beaten by Dylan Walsh in the final.

The annual Florry McCarty trophy which was held on Tuesday 23rd December . Again this year it proved to be a very popular , friendly and yet competitive, when two teams of juveniles played in the final.
There were great games of handball and with all games played both Teams were level on Points. The match went to a play off

Brian and Padraig raced into a early lead however through grit and determination Eoin and Ronan got back into the game. Both sides served several times at 13 each before Brian and Padraig eventually got past the winning post 15-13
